Birth Control. 2010

This piece is currently on display at the Concordia Undergraduate Art gallery, the VAV on the corner of René Lévesque and Crescent street.



It maps the 8 years of my life that I have been taking birth control pills.

here he is biking with some big leaves for me to do some rubbings of. they look like green bat wings.



they grow on Manitoulin, and I'd already started using them, but these were from our friend Chris's house.




and he helped me go "window shopping" for my next sculpture project, the one inspired by Wangechi and Louise. these photos are from my cell phone, so excuse the poor quality. but i love cell phone cameras!

i like these pictures.



i remember when i read the article that accompanied this fashion/art photo shoot, Wangechi commented on how she was a bit worried for her art career because of being a mother. but she cited Louise Bourgoise as a woman artist who had managed both, though taking some time to do so.
and now they are both inspiring me for my next project!
